Summer Atelier Management - August.2022

In this blog, I record how I spend the money and time you all have given me every month. Please read it if you like.

August 2022. This is my fourth summer since moving to Kagoshima. Every summer, my studio is a mess just managing the endless vegetation that grows there. I think I'm getting a little better every year by learning more efficient methods and buying new tools.

I had never even touched a lawnmower before I moved to Kagoshima. At first, a friend who was a farmer gave me a lesson on the basics of how to use it, and I borrowed lawnmowers from local people.

I have tried out various types of lawn mowers, and the one that suited me best was the battery-powered lawn mower. It was more than three times the price of the engine-powered one, but the lack of drive system problems makes it stress-free.

The second most useful tool in the atelier after the grass cutter is the chainsaw. This is also made by the same Chinese manufacturer, Koshin, as the grass cutter. The batteries are compatible, which is a great help. I use it to cut down trees that are likely to get caught on power lines and to remove the expanding bamboo forests.

This time too, we cut down overgrown trees to prepare for the typhoon.

All of the tools used to create this atelier environment are purchased using sales from our online store.

That's how it felt, I was so busy taking care of my studio in August that I was only able to paint one wall. As the temperature drops, I'll have more time to be outdoors, so I'm going to gradually switch over to autumn, which is the best season for painting.

Also, thank you for sending me mosquito coils, replacement blades for the lawnmower, sports drinks, etc. for my birthday on August 23rd. I will treasure them.

This concludes our activity report for August 2022. Thank you for reading.
